OpenSourcerers 2022 is a wrap! It was packed with interesting articles covering a wide range of topics.

There are 52 articles available covering high level topics down to the dirty technical details of using Red Hat’s products and other OpenSource technologies. Your Opensourcerers blog editors followed along of course! As we come from varying backgrounds we thought it might be helpful to navigate this wealth of content by highlighting our personal favorites here.

So without further ado we would like to present the highlights as perceived by us, the members of the OpenSourcerers Editor Team:

Götz Rieger (IT Automation & Management) recommends:

Okay, Ingo beat me to listing the eBPF intro article here. Damn… 😉

I believe securing the software supply chain will be one of the leading IT themes in 2023 and we got an introduction to go with it right here:

An article I really enjoyed helping to edit was covering an unsual topic for this blog but showed nicely how Open Source principles are applied to other fields (no pun intended) as well:

Ingo Börnig (Open Source Innovation) recommends:

Ok, let’s make it quick: I’ll pick the following articles to my must-read-bucket-list:

https://open011prod.wpengine.com/2022/09/26/ebpf-more-than-package-filtering-much-more/
eBPF: More than package filtering… much more.

https://open011prod.wpengine.com/2022/09/13/openshift-local-or-single-node-openshift/
OpenShift Local or Single Node OpenShift. A must read for everyone who want to test or run a simple and small K8s.

Matthias Pfützner (Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure) recommends:

Obviously interviewing Burr Sutter was my highlight of the year, but also other different topics did find me spending time on reading them in detail.

So, here are my top three:

A use case, not just a platform!

Ansgar Kückes (Industry) recommends:

Ok, industry, which are the ones I would recommend. EVERY article is worth reading. But I guess these are the ones which are most interesting for industry.

Security of course is leading what’s going on. Attacs are threatening more and more as digitalization is evolving and the global situation doesn’t make it easier. So I’d recommed especially the contributions to supply chain security by Roberto and about patch management by Bernhard. But I’d also recommend Max’ and Benjamin’s series in four parts on writing Kubernetes native applications (actually, a single recommendation). And don’t miss Axel’s contributions on Banking 2030 and the future of insurances.
